Covid 19 Update

Hello Sprayberry Football Family,

I wanted to give an update on the status of the 2020 football season as we begin to safely open our pre-season conditioning. The GHSA has recently released their guidance and policies for resuming fall sports.  They are quite extensive and detailed so our players and coaches can safely prepare for the upcoming football season.  In addition to the GHSA guidelines, Cobb County School District has also released their policies for pre-season workouts. I have included a brief synopsis of those guidelines below:

  1. Pre-season conditioning workouts can resume with limitations starting June 15th ,2020.
  2. Masks are recommended but not required.
  3. Only 20 players/coaches allowed on campus per sport. Coaches and players must remain with the same group through the duration of phase 1. Players must arrive on time with their assigned group and may not participate outside of their allotted time.
  4. Athletes temperatures must be taken prior to the start of each session. Any player whose temperature is 100 degrees or higher must be sent home immediately. Any player that has symptoms or a fever is encouraged to stay home and contact the head coach immediately.
  5. Each group should arrive on time and “check in” outside the field house for a temperature reading and health questionnaire. From there, athletes will report to the weight room while maintaining social distancing guidelines “check-in” and warm-up. Documentation will be provided to the school’s AD and county administrators.
  6. No water fountains will be available for athletes. Players must bring their own water bottles. We are recommending each player bring a 1-gallon jug of water for their workout session.
  7. Social Distancing must be practiced while in the weight room. No back spotting will be practiced. If an athlete needs a spot, only side spotting techniques will be utilized.
  8. Workout stations must be sanitized in between groups and there must be a 15-minute transition period between groups. Players from separate groups may NOT interact in any form or fashion while on campus.
  9. All players must wash their hands at the end of each workout session and promptly leave campus before the next group arrives. Each group will exit the campus in the opposite direction of future arriving groups.
  10. Locker room facilities will remain closed during phase 1 guidance period.
  11. All athletes are still required to have physicals, but physicals from last year will be good through July 27, 2020.

General Guidelines and Good Practices

  1. Wash Hands Often-Avoid touching your mouth, eyes, and face
  2. Avoid Close Contact-Maintain at least 6’ of distance between yourself and others
  3. Cover your coughs and sneezes with your arm/elbow
  4. Clean and Disinfect frequently touched surfaces throughout the day
